woohoo! fixed video playback on my newly updated Linux Mint DE!

after several recent updates to my Linux Mint DE system, videos weren't playing... even in swiss-army-knife-player VLC...

"No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "mp4v". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

after googling it, I found this Ubuntu Forums thread pointing towards a "libavcodec52" file which may need to be installed.

Although it was an old forum post, I checked in Synaptic, & it did indeed have an upgrade available for that file - done & done... problem solved.

don't sleep... penguins will eat evil operating systems

sheesh kiddies - I'll be so glad when my internet gets hooked up (already ordered, now just waiting)... I sketched these OS mascots the other night - probably shoulda been lettering the strip so that would be up today ;O

but no worries... it's coming ;D

The Matrix has... ya mama!

it still amazes me how accepting of Microsuck everyone is...

pictured above are some of the methods I employed on Friday to try & feel better & get through that last bit of the week... seriously, you should see how tore-up my nose looks from the tissue...

but anyways, I fixed some minor things on the site tonight, but still have a bit to go from where I wanted to be...
plus, my Ubuntu got crippled recently in an incident involving a partial kernel update & an unfortunately placed glass of wine... & I swear this vista is slow enough to make you go back to real postal mail & skipping portable cd players... (& if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll assume you're running 64)...
so, until I have time to reinstall (no no, I have to be awake)...

I've been drawing, writing, & coming up with things - it's just been real interesting trying to get it digital these days... but I think the days of that being an issue are just about past...

so, windows be damned! posts will be made!...

now off to the shower & sleep... g'night folks...
